Epic.

We’re finally home!!! We are so very grateful to be back in Peru, even though we had the most amazing summer furlough ever. It was epic, to quote my twin sister. Epic is a perfect word for what we just got to experience! 10 weeks, 10 church presentations, 11 college and university tours, 14,000 miles driven in Vann’s very generous brother and sister-in-law’s Toyota Camry, 29 States (and Canada), and 23 different beds – most of which were thanks to the amazing hospitality of our precious friends and family along the way! Every minute we got to spend with our family, friends, supporters and churches was a gift, but there simply was not enough time to see everyone. If we missed you, please accept my sincerest apologies. We will try to connect next time!

The trip was wonderful, really wonderful, but we are so glad to be home. I have had fevers for 10 days straight, and Vann has passed 3 kidney stones in the last ten days – that has got to be a record somewhere. 3! Poor man. It will take us awhile to get back into the swing of things here. Some faithful supporters have donated the money that we will need to have his 13mm kidney stone operated on in Lima, so the sooner that happens, the better! We would very much appreciate your prayers in this matter.

The children have begun their school year in a completely new way! Each of the children have decided to do their classes online, so we are a homeschooling family again, only without all of the work for me! Corynn and Ethan have chosen to do dual enrollment courses in the hopes that they will be able to graduate high school with their Associates degrees. We are very proud of their motivation and commitment to their own education. It will take a lot of work, but they are up to the task, and I love having them all home!

There are significant struggles going on in the lives of those closest to us here, and we would very much appreciate your prayers for wisdom to know how best to help as we are already rather drained ourselves. Thankfully, the farm and house were in good order on our arrival! We are very grateful for good neighbors to care for things in our absence and welcome us home so kindly. As much as we have enjoyed coming back home, it reminds us to keep watch, and pray – Jesus is coming soon! He will take us to our real home, and it will be epic - face to face with God! I hope that you know Him!

“The Lord is … not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” 2Peter 3:9-12
